My Liz is growing up...but now there's a new baby coming

Last night after Nik gave Liz a bath he comes downstairs and asks me if I have been secretly giving Liz coffee or something cuz she's all hyped up. It was near her bed time and she showed no signs of being tired.
All day long she's like that...hyper. She now knows who to run, well no very well cuz her body goes faster then her legs will allow. So she runs around the house screaming and yelling, getting her sometimes dirty and sticky hand on everything she can touch.
She is also in that phase were she will spin until she falls down all the while screaming.
I'm not complaining by the way, it just I think it's funny...It's just a mother experiencing a toddler in the house for the first time.
Well I get to experience then again in a year again with new baby...
Time to check on my never ending get into trouble cute child

Walking and Talking Lizzy

We are also learning to understand some of her words. Some are clear and others were not sure yet. Some of her words have multiple meanings too.
Great fun

Jasper

The last day we were in Jasper we relaxed at the Miette Hotsprings
We first did a short hike at the bottom of the mountain (Pocahotas coalmine). They had the shaft closed up so it was kindof a pointless walk.

These are some goats we seen on top of the mountain at the springs

One of the three sources, it smelled like rotting eggs so we took the picture quickly and then left.

Cold water creek flowing into the warm creek. The bottom of the picture is were it meet. When we were there, the water was flowing from both direction

Cold water creek further up the trail

This is a cold water creek coming from a different mountain and is flowing into the warm creek

The actual hotsprings were so nice and relaxing. there were two cold pools and two hot.
and the whole area wasn't walled in so you could see the mountains. It was a nice view.
I just stayed in the hot pools but nik went from the hot to the cold and then back again. the cold pools weren't that cold but when the body was hot from being in the warmth, the cold pool felt freezing.
We should have taken the camera in but we didn't

Jasper

The third day we went to Maligne Lake, Maligne Canyon and drove past Medicine Lake

Maligne Lake, we walk a short path to get to this spot

Along the path, another shot I let Nik take.
If you didn't know, nik takes bad pictures so I have confiscated his camera and now only let him take pics once in a while.

We didn't stop but this is Medicine Lake. It's supposed to be this great phenomenon. the lake drains in the fall through underground holes.

Medicine Lake, one of the only places we seen wild life of any significance.
We went to maligne canyon but nik didn't want to carry the camera so we missed out on some great pictures

Jasper Vacation

On August 12th through 16 we went to Jasper. A big thank you to Auntie Cheryl for babysitting Liz during that time.

First stop, Athabasca Glacier. We took a snow coach on to the glacier.
There we pylons as to where people should stay when on the glacier because of cavases and sink holes, but where do you think people went first when let off the bus? Where they shouldn't be, beyond the pylons.
to be truthful, we went beyond the pylons too.

I don't know the name of this glacier, it's to the left of the Athabasca Glacier.

Andromeda Glacier, to the left of the Athabasca Glacier.

AA Glacier, also to the left of the Athabasca.
They explained why its called the AA but i don't remember why.

The Snow Dome, to the right of Athabasca

On the second day after a cold camp across the road from the glacier, we stopped at Athabasca Falls. Nothing knew, we stopped took a few pics and then left.

The River before the falls

Cute little falls to the left of the big falls

After lunch we hiked Mt. Edith Cavell. This was the destination. the Meadows

I allowed Nik to take these pics, there among the pretty flowers in the meadows

Cavell Glacier at the bottom with the lake in front of it and Angel Gacier on top.
Looking down at them from the top of the meadows.

Ghost Glacier behind the meadows

More to come...

A Nice Saturday

At 5 bucks per person (children and seniors free), Spruce Meadows is certainly good value for your money. Since we had 2 free entry passes, we decided to go check it out. We are glad we did.

The event was the Queen Elizabeth II Cup which happens to be the last equestrian event before the Olympics. We were only there for phase 2, which is the top 12 from round one.

The rush seating includes a grass area which was not very full at all so Lizzy had a lot of room to roll around. And since it was on a hill, roll around she certainly did.
Canadian Eric Lamaze was the eventual winner, with Canadians also in second and third. Eric and some Canadian girl (her horse was named Special Ed) after 2 rounds were both clear (had no faults) so had a jump off to decide first place. Eric ran this course clear as well, but after knocking over one pole Christine someoneorother was eliminated.

Here are a couple pictures of Eric Lamaze. Where we were sitting, we couldn't see the last 3 jumps. There was a jumbotron that showed them though, so it wasn't too bad. Plus the jumps we were right in front of were the trickiest including a fast triple jump that caught many a rider out.

There was also an apearance by the Lord Strathcona's Horse and some other group for the award ceremony.
After wandering around the plaza for a while, we went to Dairy Queen on the way home. All in all a good day. Or as Lizzy would say (if she could talk)

"Any day I get home covered in chocolate with a new toy and no pants, is a GOOD day."

My baby's growing up

I do have to say that this weekend was not all fun and games. we had to help Jeremy and Amanda move. all the way out to Redcliff. Friday we had to help load furniture on trucks and the saturday we made the trip to unload. Poor Nik, he had to lift something heavier then a screw driver. he he (I don't feel sorry for him really) I got to clean carpets with this carpet cleaning stuff Amanda got with her dyson vacuum cleaner. we got home around 3:30 ish on Saturday.

Lizzy turned 1 years old on Sunday so on Saturday we had a party for her down by my parent's place.
Here is the blow up pool that her grandma and grandpa O. got her

She got 2 outfits, 1 pj set, and jeans from her auntie Amanda and Uncle Jeremy. $10 from her great uncle Alvin and great aunt Joan. 2 sleepers and a couple books from grandpa and grandma O. (cuz they can't just give Liz one b-day present, it's has to be two or three)
A pink rubber duckie to go with the pool from her auntie Sarah and Uncle Tim (there my cousins but we just call them her aunt and uncle)
and mega block from her parents

Even though she had all these toys to play with plus others that we brought, the only thing she wanted to play with was the hangers from her clothes.
I think she's taking after her dad

The reason why Nik's parent's and sibling are not there is because they are enjoying the land down under. all the way on the other side of the world.
They gave lizzy her present's a few week's back
from her grandpa and grandma F. she got a home made doll and blanket
and from her auntie Cheryl and Uncle Pete and fam she got books (princess Elizabeth book) and a princess dress.

New Place

So I thought I would post some pics of the new place we moved into last week. It's actually clean too thanks to my dad's constant nagging. hehe
Entrance- If you turn right before the key hooks there's a half bath. left before the closet is the way up stairs. the door open is the way downstairs

Kitchen - I love this kitchen, the cabinets I would change but now I can actually do things in it. The last kitchen I had was about as big as a walk in closet and most of the room was taken up by the fridge and stove. I also had to have half my small appliances out in the dining area on a table cuz i didn't have enough counter space to put it on. Now I have enough room.

Living room - there's a nice big window now for all my plants.
Living room also plus Gomer

Up stairs- the first door on your rights is Liz's room, left is the master, second door on your right is the full bathroom and at the end of the hall is the spare bedroom.

Down stairs - to the left before the furnace is another storage room. it's wall's are painted black so we call it the black room. the computer is behind the furnace. Nik got demoted to the basement.

And outside the kitchen window - we have our own private fenced in space, I can actually put some plants outside this summer so I'm really excited about that. and we have our own tree and tire swing. the leaves are going to drive me nuts but oh well.
we have a pretty nice view too, Sarcee Trail is on that hill behind us. the only down side is that the train is at the bottom of that hill so we can see and hear that. and those tracks are busy so it's non stop train noise.
I was going to take some pics of the last place and post them up with the new ones of the same pic beside but i forgot.
So now you get the picture of what were living in now.

Liz and Rachelle Ready for Cleaning

well today I'm cleaning my place because tomorrow we move. So I put on one of my bandanna's that I use to keep my hair out of my face while cleaning. I found an extra one and decided to put it on Liz. Surprisingly she didn't yank it off the first second I put it on her. She usually does that with hats.

I thought I'd add some more pics of her taken on the Easter weekend.

Her hair got a little too long so my mother decided to put a curl in it. We did manage to cut her hair but she had a mow hawk tuff in her hair the rest of the day.

Her uncle's and aunt's love her. Except Deb thinks she need to strangle to cuteness out of Liz.
ha ha

Sorry couldn't get this one turned
