Jasper

The last day we were in Jasper we relaxed at the Miette Hotsprings
We first did a short hike at the bottom of the mountain (Pocahotas coalmine). They had the shaft closed up so it was kindof a pointless walk.

These are some goats we seen on top of the mountain at the springs

One of the three sources, it smelled like rotting eggs so we took the picture quickly and then left.

Cold water creek flowing into the warm creek. The bottom of the picture is were it meet. When we were there, the water was flowing from both direction

Cold water creek further up the trail

This is a cold water creek coming from a different mountain and is flowing into the warm creek

The actual hotsprings were so nice and relaxing. there were two cold pools and two hot.
and the whole area wasn't walled in so you could see the mountains. It was a nice view.
I just stayed in the hot pools but nik went from the hot to the cold and then back again. the cold pools weren't that cold but when the body was hot from being in the warmth, the cold pool felt freezing.
We should have taken the camera in but we didn't

Jasper

The third day we went to Maligne Lake, Maligne Canyon and drove past Medicine Lake

Maligne Lake, we walk a short path to get to this spot

Along the path, another shot I let Nik take.
If you didn't know, nik takes bad pictures so I have confiscated his camera and now only let him take pics once in a while.

We didn't stop but this is Medicine Lake. It's supposed to be this great phenomenon. the lake drains in the fall through underground holes.

Medicine Lake, one of the only places we seen wild life of any significance.
We went to maligne canyon but nik didn't want to carry the camera so we missed out on some great pictures

Jasper Vacation

On August 12th through 16 we went to Jasper. A big thank you to Auntie Cheryl for babysitting Liz during that time.

First stop, Athabasca Glacier. We took a snow coach on to the glacier.
There we pylons as to where people should stay when on the glacier because of cavases and sink holes, but where do you think people went first when let off the bus? Where they shouldn't be, beyond the pylons.
to be truthful, we went beyond the pylons too.

I don't know the name of this glacier, it's to the left of the Athabasca Glacier.

Andromeda Glacier, to the left of the Athabasca Glacier.

AA Glacier, also to the left of the Athabasca.
They explained why its called the AA but i don't remember why.

The Snow Dome, to the right of Athabasca

On the second day after a cold camp across the road from the glacier, we stopped at Athabasca Falls. Nothing knew, we stopped took a few pics and then left.

The River before the falls

Cute little falls to the left of the big falls

After lunch we hiked Mt. Edith Cavell. This was the destination. the Meadows

I allowed Nik to take these pics, there among the pretty flowers in the meadows

Cavell Glacier at the bottom with the lake in front of it and Angel Gacier on top.
Looking down at them from the top of the meadows.

Ghost Glacier behind the meadows

More to come...
